Fortinet AP or Aruba AP: what actually differs on site

One of the most common questions when deploying wireless is "should we use Fortinet or Aruba?". Both are stable enough for enterprise use; the differences lie in how they are managed and how they integrate.

Unified management

If a FortiGate firewall is already in place, Fortinet APs can be managed directly from the firewall without a separate controller.

Pure wireless performance and scale

Aruba has long-accumulated expertise as a wireless-focused vendor, and shows its strengths on larger sites with many APs, or where roaming matters.

How to choose

  • Already running a Fortinet firewall → Fortinet AP, managed centrally
  • Large AP count and wireless performance is the priority → Aruba AP

Results vary with the physical environment, so we recommend a site survey to establish dead zones and user counts before deciding.
