Review CPU and memory utilisation and event logs on switches, firewalls and APs on a regular basis. Repeated errors on a particular port, or a history of unexpected reboots, can be an early sign of hardware trouble.
2. Traffic and bandwidth
Check whether traffic spikes at particular times of day to identify bottlenecks before they bite. Review headroom on the core-to-edge segments at the same time.
3. Wireless coverage
Office layouts change after APs are installed, and new dead zones appear as a result. Re-measuring signal strength periodically is worthwhile.
4. Configuration backups
Keeping a history of configuration changes makes a fast rollback possible when a fault occurs.
